Frieda Mogal was nobody's favorite gal,
and only her brother really loved his good pal,
Frieda was no beautiful Hollywood mega star
as she'd missed that mark by far--very far.
Shapeless and shy,it seemed no beauty feature
had been bestowed on that female teacher,
Her chin was weak, and her neck was short,
and her stammering stutter spurred a rude retort,
Frieda's mouse-colored hair lacked glowing sheen,
and the pain of headaches often made her look mean,
Weak sad eyes looked owl-like thru thick glasses,
causing amusement for pupils in her English classes,
Those teenage judges, soundly proud in their youth,
left for Christmas vacation not knowing the truth
That charmless Miss Mogal had decided to ride
far away from life's sadness via her holiday suicide.
First: notes about each student,in clearest detail,
so their new teacher would know to pass or fail,
Lesson plans for each school day before Spring Break,
making teaching seem an easy "piece of cake"!
Then off to the Quik Mart for her last black coffee,
and a delicious candy bar in a flavor called Toffee,
Paying at the counter, she saw the tempting lotto ad,
and she bought a lottery ticket, first she'd ever had.
On that dark night, her last for "News at PM Eleven"
Frieda watched, as usual, the crew on Channel Seven,
As a last good-bye to the nasty world she is leaving,
but her mind was changed; to life she is happily cleaving!
For her life will not be over, sad, dead, and done,
as her statewide lottery she has won!
And she'll happily and joyously start the New Year,
filled with fortitude and cheer,
Glad those lesson plans were so neatly wrote
before she'd met Charon at his old boat,
A few short months of the rude students' ill will,
then with her lottery winnings, FREE, what a thrill!
Now the charmless ex-teacher, the sad old maid,
writes paperback romances is well-paid,
Guiding imaginary romance into each reader's life
although she'll never be any man's beautiful wife!
